To make the most of your Kuala Lumpur 5-Day Itinerary, prioritize a well-thought-out plan.

Precisely, we started planning about a month before our Kuala Lumpur trip.

My sister messaged me to begin planning for the hotel to stay, places to visit in Kuala Lumpur and nearby, things to do, etc.

Also, I must plan the shots I was required to take during my first international visit.

Hence, plan plan plan…

But I will simplify things for you so you can make the most of your Kuala Lumpur trip.

Starting with Airlines

There are multiple airlines to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We wanted to utilize the complete day in Kuala Lumpur. So, landing at Kuala Lumpur around early morning was preferred.

Thus, we decided to take the direct night flight of the Malaysian airlines—timings, 11:10 p.m. (Indian time) – 7 a.m. (Malaysian time), the time was well suited.

Indeed, the seats in economy class are comfortable for a nap. In addition, the food will be served.

For entertainment, you can switch and watch some channels on display in front of your seats. I watched, “Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle“, not completely, but honestly, the viewing experience was not that fantastic. The display was not properly functioning, and even the sound was off. Nevertheless, you won’t find comfort everywhere, therefore, you must utilize what is being provided.

Following all the night entertainment & good food. Don’t forget to wake up before sunrise to glance outside the window for a fascinating sight the next day. These moments don’t arrive very frequently in life.

Hotel to Stay

I researched online and found the Chinatown area in Kuala Lumpur would be promising for the stay.

The Pacific Express Chinatown was offering rooms at reasonable prices. Also, it has multiple local markets nearby, so it would be perfect to roam around and stay near the markets.

Furthermore, the room we had chosen could easily accommodate 3 people, and we stayed more than satisfied in terms of cleanliness, politeness of the staff, luggage storage room, guidance at the reception, and quality of stay.

The stay was worth it! Even the receptionist assisted us in planning our day out.

5 Days Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

Stay with me till the end; your superb 5 days Kuala Lumpur Itinerary awaits when you finish reading this.

Day – 1

1. Hop-on-Hop-off Bus

Start your day by hopping on to the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. The bus would take most of your day. However, you would get an overview of a lot of places. Ultimately, you can plan to visit the shortlisted places thoroughly later.

Exploring on the bus is a terrific way to start your journey. Also, roaming on the bus would be convenient because, with the same-day ticket, you can drop off and ride on the bus as many times.

Start your bus journey by 9 a.m. from Bukit Bintang main kiosk and continue till you feel like it. We stayed on the bus till around 3:00 p.m. when we decided to drop off at Petronas Twin Towers.

2. Aquaria KLCC

You would be thrilled to uncover the world of Aquatic animals. Accordingly, plan to visit in the evening after you end up with the bus ride.

Aquaria KLCC is near the Petronas Twin Towers. Hence, if you are near the Twin Towers, you can plan your visit to explore this fantastic place. Walking on the streets is preferred. When you choose to walk, your destination will come admiring the surroundings.

Some aquatic animals, like small sharks and different fishes you may not have heard of, are worth seeing. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

We spent a good quality time of around 2 hours admiring the underwater animals.

Day – 2

1. Batu Caves

Seeing Batu Caves is among the unique experiences you have to opt for. Batu Caves is a well-built temple dedicated to lord Murugan.

When you visit a foreign country, a perspective is always there that you couldn’t find an ideal Indian religious site.

However, Batu Caves will leave you stunned. You will feel as if you’re somewhere in South India. Indeed, you are in Kuala Lumpur!

Try to visit, especially early morning. The temple opens at 6 a.m. The earlier you go, the less crowd you would encounter. Precisely, we had reached Batu Caves around 10 a.m. It was very crowded till that time. Plus, when you go earlier, you can take your time to get photographed peacefully.

To reach the temple, the long stairs to the Batu caves will push your legs, but with gradual movements, you will reach there.

2. Petronas Twin Towers at Night

The nights are exquisite to explore Kuala Lumpur. Especially the atmosphere near the Petronas Twin Towers comes alive after sunset. People stroll to the spot in numbers to witness the musical fountain show.

We visited twice during our stay at night to see the fountain show. The atmosphere is calm and perfect to stroll around.

Here’s the blog post, in which, I have expressed how you can experience the best of Kuala Lumpur in 2 days.

Day – 3

Genting Skyworld Theme Park – Genting Highlands

Keep your 3rd day reserved to visit the Genting Skyworld Theme Park. It’s approximately 1:30 hours away from Kuala Lumpur city.

However, you must book your tickets for the Skyworld Theme Park before reaching the place to avoid any mishap.

After that, get involved in the thrill world, the adventurous rides, and the breathtaking sights. Nevertheless, download the Theme Park app to avoid wasting more time in the long queues and enjoy your rides to the fullest.

You have your entire day till 6 p.m. to relish the rides.

Day – 4

Chin Swee Caves Temple at Genting Highland

While returning from the Genting Highlands to Kuala Lumpur, in between, you would notice the Chin Swee Caves Temple.

When we visited, it was all hazy. Hence, I don’t get a chance to click the photos.

We waited a while for the haze to clear, but it never did.

Despite this, we visited the pagoda, it is very tall. We reached the last floor by climbing stairs and couldn’t see even the lower floors.

Eventually, it was a remarkable feeling, though I couldn’t capture the surroundings because the visibility was extremely low.

Make your way back to Kuala Lumpur.

Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur

At that time, the weather was pleasant in Kuala Lumpur and opposite in the Genting Highlands.

The Thean Hou Temple is a Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur.

I preferred to visit this temple because I saw captivating photos online, enough to drag me here.

The temple has a very vibrant red color that is appealing to the eyes. I roamed around the temple & captured photographs.

Kuala Lumpur Streets

If you decide to walk, the streets of Kuala Lumpur are perfect. You won’t get bored because of the magnificent skyscrapers & wall graffiti.

When we returned to rest in the hotel, I used to pick up my camera and explore the streets. However, capturing the moments forever stays in the schedule.

When you start roaming, you won’t realize how much distance you would have covered.

Day -5

Visiting Petronas Twin Towers Top Floor

Visiting Petronas Twin Towers is undoubtedly in your to do list to Kuala Lumpur.

However make sure to grab the tickets for going to the top floor of the towers before it gets sold. On our visit, luckily, we’re able to find tickets for our last day in the Kuala Lumpur. Otherwise, this awesome experience would have been missed for sure.

If you have extra days, you can plan further to explore Kuala Lumpur or visit Langwaki to experience the sand & the sea.

How do you commute within Kuala Lumpur?

Taking a Grab is the best option to move quickly from one place to another.

Apart from this, you can also use the KL Rapid Metro. Undoubtedly, it would be more affordable. But, being first-timers in the city, you would be required to search about the station to go to to reach a specific destination. It would take a lot of time to gather information.

Hence, taking a Grab would be the straightforward option.

Which is the best month to visit Kuala Lumpur?

We visited Kuala Lumpur in the middle of July. The weather was pleasant in the morning and towards the evening, but it stayed humid throughout the day.

However, avoid going out in harsh daylight without covering your head. Otherwise, you can easily explore in the early mornings and evenings.

I ventured out in the hop-on-hop-off bus without my cap. The scorching sun had made me get irritated very quickly.

July is a good month to visit Kuala Lumpur.
