My wish came true, and I went to my first-ever international theme park, experiencing the adventure of a lifetime at Genting Skyworld Theme Park, located above 6000 ft sea level—a thrilling adventure.

How Had My Day Started?
After undergoing the Best of Kuala Lumpur in 2 days, the following day was pre-planned to leave for Genting Highlands.
On a Monday morning, I woke up early and got ready. Indeed, much earlier than I wake up to go to the office!
Ready to leave for Genting Highlands
Also, it’s the day to check out from the Pacific Express Hotel Chinatown because we had booked a 1-night stay at the Genting Highlands.
However, we’re only taking a pair of clothing with us, as there’s no point in carrying the 15 kg luggage. Anyway, we will be coming back to Kuala Lumpur.
So, we kept our baggage in the hotel’s store room. It was safe.
Breakfast at Sri Ganesha Restaurant
As I conveyed in my earlier blog post, Sri Ganesha restaurant had become our trip’s most satisfactory place for having delicious vegetarian meals—satisfaction, both in food quality and reasonably.
I ate Masala Dosa! I don’t know, but I became obsessed with having Dosas lately.
After having breakfast, I quickly went outside because I saw an artist painting. I wanted to photograph him.
He seemed lost building his universe—I softly asked him, “Can I take your photography while you’re painting?” he replied with a lovely gesture.

After that, it was still some time for the Grab to come. I stayed busy capturing the happening on the streets.

Specifically, I wanted my photo on the street of Kuala Lumpur. Therefore, I told my brother to photograph me while I was walking. He did a fantastic job of freezing me in movement!

Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is a hill station that is about 55 km away from Kuala Lumpur.
You can effortlessly make a day trip from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands. It will take you approximately an hour to cover the distance by road.
Getting there
Grab Price from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands
The Grab would charge around 60-80 ringgits to reach Genting Highlands.
Indeed, it would be a smooth drive. You will start enjoying the breathtaking views when you inch nearer to your location.
Awana Skyway
You can also choose Awana Skyway to reach the Genting Highlands.
However, due to bad weather, it was closed on the day we visited.
Genting Highland Weather & Clothing Required
The weather remains surprising at the Genting Highlands. However, it stays on the cooler side most of the time.
During my visit, for example, the temperature in Kuala Lumpur was 27 degrees, compared to 18 degrees at the Genting Highlands.
Therefore, it’s advisable to carry a pair of warm clothing:
- Jacket or Light sweaters
- Rain cover
- Full Pants
- Sturdy Soled Shoes
Genting Skyworld Theme Park Ticket Price
The Genting Skyworld Theme Park ticket price for non-Malaysians is 156 MYR. You can visit Klook and reserve your tickets online.
Note – Skyworld Theme Park remains closed on Tuesdays. Therefore, plan consequently.
Furthermore, most importantly, Skyworld is a cashless theme park. You have to use your cards.
Genting Skyworld Theme Park
We started from Kuala Lumpur around 10:30 a.m., and at 11:40 a.m., I clicked the photograph of the Genting Skyworld Theme Park from outside. It was a cloudy day.
The route to the entrance of Skyworld Theme Park is via the luxurious & magnificent Skyworld Hotel.
It will take around 4-5 mins to pass through the hotel and arrive at the entrance of the Skyworld Theme Park.
Locker Before the Entrance
There are electronic lockers before the entrance. You can’t carry bags/luggage with you inside. So, you have to keep the items in the locker. Ultimately, it will be safe.
Specifically, you can decide how many hours you require a locker, like 4 hours & until the park is closed. You can see the image below. According to your preference, you can pay online and keep the items.
Genting Skyworld Locker Prices
Though I had a doubt, before entering, I cleared that—I wanted to know whether I could take my camera inside or not.
You can carry your hand-held camera with you inside. There are separate areas to keep your belongings inside. You can keep them there. But, on some rides, there are no areas to keep the things. So, it’s better to keep them in a locker first-hand.

Time to go Inside
At the entrance of Genting Skyworld Theme Park
It was time to go on an adventurous ride. Though, before that—picture.
After entering, it felt like entering a different world. Indeed, the world of spectacular rides, where thrills and chills go hand-in-hand.

The First Ride (Ride name – Alpha Fighter Pilots)
When we entered our first ride, I saw Individuals shouting. I sensed fear but kept telling myself that it was just a ride. Nothing would happen.
There was a counter to keep your belongings safe, like mobile, sunglasses, camera, wallet, etc. I kept my camera.
Our turn came, we seated, and the security person checked our belts appropriately.
The ride started & then gradually, the pace increased, then…
It went upside down.
Woooooooah!!
I closed my eyes and shouted. The ride halted momentarily at the same spot, keeping me hung, upside down.
It was a compelling start at the Genting Skyworld Theme Park.
The Second Ride (Ride name – Terraform Tower Challenge)
Next, we proceeded to a freefall ride, where the ride would suddenly drop after reaching the maximum height.
It was this ride that gave me goosebumps only by noticing.
We were all lined up, and our turn came…
Quickly, we went & sat down, and the individual came and checked our belts.
Thumps up from the man!
The ride began to rise upward but was soon brought down to the surface due to a technical failure.
OH, NO!
Once again, we queued outside for our turn.
You couldn’t imagine what happened next—the doors opened, we went and sat on the ride. Ditto, the same problem. A technical issue had again arisen.
Then, we thought after spending almost 1 hr on the same ride over & over. I feel it was a sign from god to move forward to another one.
Hence, we skipped and moved forward.

Walking towards our next ride
Acorn Adventure
Before queuing up for Acorn Adventure, I had my camera with me.
However, the official informed me that you must keep your camera and the other small bag in the locker.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture the visual moments after that for some time.
Though moving forward, our turn came, and I discovered it was a roller coaster ride.
I genuinely again closed my eyes and…you now know what’s next— screamed!
Epic Voyage to Moonhaven
It was this ride that made me shiver.
Don’t be mistaken. There are a few water rides at Genting Skyworld Theme Park, which I was unaware of.
We queued in the Epic Voyage to Moonhaven ride line. It was big. Every second person I saw was wearing a transparent rain cover.
It took me a moment to realize, ohh—water ride.
Among the other people lined up, I could spot we three outfitted differently, not wearing a rain cover.
The ride started, and shortly downhill came. The water splashed, and my jacket and trousers got wet.
I was feeling cold! But I can’t do anything more. I can’t go outside and come back again.
Straightly, I visited the washroom and used the dryer to dry my jacket. Nothing significant happened.
Unfortunately, I had to tour the theme park in the same wet clothes that later in the day dried up!
Also, the climate got very foggy towards the evening
At the Evening
It was around 5 p.m.
Earlier in the day, we started on time. But, queuing in the two rides took most of our time, resulting in no outcome—almost 2 hrs.
Later, using the Skyworld Theme Park Mobile App, we utilized our time by reserving a time slot for the rides. That ultimately saved a lot of time, and we spent more time experiencing & enjoying.
Selfie Time
Shortly, we all were starving. Therefore, we decided to have something.
All the stalls we went to were serving non-vegetarian dishes. After searching profoundly, we found a Pizza place.
Following a Pizza meal, we went on our last ride on the Invasion of the Planet of the Apes—a 3D ride.
Our last ride at Genting Skyworld Theme Park
We were given the 3D glasses when we entered. Indeed, I felt like everything was happening in front of my eyes—magnificent technology.
Hurrah!
I marked the day at Genting Skyworld as one of the most exciting days of my life.
We exited at 6 p.m. Nevertheless, it was time for the theme park to close.
After that, we straightaway headed to our hotel at Genting Highlands.

The decision to go to Genting Highlands was entirely worth it. You must visit Genting Skyworld Theme Park on your trip to Malaysia.
