Reading Time: 4 minutesI am my friend who went on a Mussoorie trip and here’s why I am writing a Mussoorie travel guide.
Mussoorie is known as “The Queen of Hills.” It lies in the state of Uttarakhand and is just 38kms away from the capital city of Uttarakhand Dehradun.
But how can you reach Mussoorie?
Let’s find out.

How to Reach from Delhi to Mussoorie
If you are from Delhi, you must travel to nearby mountain places like Himachal and Uttarakhand by Bus (Public Transport).
Only in Bus will you be able to watch the serenity happening outside, and that’s what I feel. Otherwise, it depends on person to person.
By Bus
Daily buses run between Delhi to Mussoorie and usually take 8-9 hrs to cover the distance. So the Journey will be peaceful.
Note – Please don’t travel empty stomach, likewise not with an overloaded stomach because the hilly areas are criss-cross and food couldn’t get digested while sitting.
How to Reach from Dehradun to Mussoorie
Dehradun to Mussoorie is about 2-3 hrs and sometimes more depending on the traffic.
You can take a bus from the Dehradun bus stand. The Dehradun to Mussoorie bus fare is Rs.60-Rs70.
Mussoorie
Day 1
Our Journey started from the Dehradun early in the morning because we came from Delhi to Dehradun and have explored the capital for a day. We reached the Dehradun bus stand to board our Bus to Mussoorie. However, we thought we would take the Bus early and get there within 2hrs, but god’s plan is a bit different. As we reached the Bus stand, we watched a long queue waiting for the Bus to arrive. And every Bus comes after 30 minutes gap.
i.e., we waited for 1hr for our turn to get the no. of the Bus we are traveling in;
You can read my Dehradun Blog Here.
I Have Highlighted the main points for an easy pick.
So, we stood in the line waiting for our turn its 10:30 a.m.; We had not thought that we had to wait for about 1:30 hrs for our turn. The delay is over because the Bus arrived, and we left at 12:05 p.m. It is in March; the peak season is around the corner. The bus fare is around 60Rs. The weather outside is very pleasing, and we can’t wait to get there.
At around 1:40 p.m., we reached Mussoorie.
As we stood down from our Bus, the beauty was refreshing. After walking some distance, we came across the mall road and headed towards our hotel near Clock Tower. After walking around 2-3 km, we reached our hotel. We two have already decided that without wasting much time, we will head towards Lal Tibba. At around 2:30 p.m.
All travel guides are unguided; I don’t search a lot before planning, and I wrote a Mussoorie travel guide after experiencing it.
Lal Tibba
We left for Lal Tibba, the highest point of Mussoorie, at an elevation of 7,500ft approx. We started walking, and it became quite steep as we progressed further. Hence there was a good road to go; it just gave us a feel of Trekking. Certainly, Around 5 p.m., we reached Lal Tibba, there is a café from its Top we can see some breathtaking views, but we have to buy something to go to the café top. So, we decided to take a Cold Coffee with Ice-cream which eventually allowed us to go on the Top.
We spent some time there clicking pictures enjoying a coffee. While returning, we had seen a famous chai shop since 1910 named Tip Top Tea Shop. And around 7 p.m. we reached our hotel. I took some rest it is about 8. pm. at night.
We had planned to visit mall road and enjoy the nightlife of this city. But, instead, we had our dinner and went to our room around 11 p.m.
Day 2
Kempty Falls
The next day we woke up early in the morning. Finally, today is the day of Kempty Falls, so we decided to take a bike for rent and headed towards our Journey, which is around 14kms away from Mussoorie. We reached Kempty around 10 a.m. and started to explore. Eat Maggi at Kempty. After spending about 2 hrs at kempty, we decided to go further to the Yamuna bridge.
But Time became our main problem because at 7 p.m. we had a bus to catch to Delhi. So instead, we went back and in between had seen the Company garden.
We reached Mussoorie around 2 p.m. and explored more in Mussoorie like Landour and Library Bazar. Our Journey of Mussoorie was coming to an end as we took our Bus from the Mussoorie bus stand and at around 4:30 p.m. left and reached Dehradun at 6: 00. pm.
The Two-day Journey is very Memorable and Joyful.
I hope my Mussoorie travel guide gave some input to plan your trip accordingly.
